TITLE I: PARENT INVOLVEMENT POLICY
-
MISSION STATEMENT
The district will provide the environment and learning opportunities for all students so that, as graduates, they will possess the qualities that will enable them to live meaningfully and successfully in society and in the workplace. The Cypress-Fairbanks ISD graduate will exhibit the following attributes:
- Effective Communicator
- Competent Problem-solver
- Self-directed Learner
- Responsible Citizen
- Quality Producer
Cypress-Fairbanks I.S.D. will make every effort to include parents in the development, evaluation, and revision of the Title I Program and the Parental Involvement Policy. The home school agreement will describe the responsibilities of key stakeholders.
-
DEVELOPING THE POLICY
A Title I committee will be formed consisting of administration, representative staff and at least one parent. The committee will convene at a time and place convenient to all its members.
-
BUILDING THE CAPACITY
CFISD values the partnership of the parents in their children’s education. There are ways parents can make significant contributions to student success both at home and by volunteering at school. Student achievement is the result of an effective home-school community partnership.
The district will build the schools’ and parents’ capacity for strong parent involvement through avenues such as:
- Providing assistance to parents in how to monitor a child's progress, and how to work with educators to improve student achievement.
- Providing materials and training to help parents work with their children to improve student achievement.
- Providing training to teachers and school personnel with the assistance of parents to implement and coordinate parent programs, and build ties between parents and the school.
- Providing information in a format and language the parents understand.
-
COORDINATION OF PROGRAMS
Annually Cypress-Fairbanks I.S.D. will assess the needs of the school community using a variety of tools including a survey or questionnaire. The findings will be used to revise the Title I program to meet the current needs. Training will be made available to address the needs of the school community. Parents will be notified about training opportunities.
-
RESERVATION OF FUNDS
CFISD is required to set aside at least 1% of its Title I funds for the purposes of parent involvement. Those funds will be divided among the Title I campuses. The campus principal will consult with the Title I committee about allowable uses funds. The campus principal will then authorize the use of the funds designated for parent involvement.
-
EVALUATION
The CPOC Committee will evaluate the effectiveness of the Parental Involvement Program. Resources that will include assessment data and surveys will be used to determine the needs and develop revised strategies for student success. Any changes to the Title I Program and the Parental Involvement Policy will be developed and agreed upon with parent input and will be communicated to the parents in the district or school.
-
CONCLUDING STATEMENT
CFISD is committed to the success of students. We will work together with parents to monitor the effectiveness of our Parent Involvement and Title I Programs and to provide excellence in education. This policy will be promoted by the administrators, principals, and other school staff as we seek active participation by our parents
