COLLEGE ACADEMY

The College Academy housed at each high school campus is a district-wide program for students interested in fulfilling their ‘Foundation and Graduation Endorsement’ requirements while simultaneously completing an Associate degree. This course of study includes dual credit courses offered by Cypress Fairbanks ISD in partnership with Lone Star College CyFair and focuses on preparing students with the skills and knowledge to complete a 2-year degree or apply coursework to a 4-year college or university.
The College Academy application will be open from Monday March 25 to June 1, 2024.Applications will be reviewed in June and decision letters will be mailed out from mid to late June
Application & Expectations

- Applications are accepted during the 4th Grading period of 8th grade and close on the last day of school. (Specific dates are communicated from the middle school shortly after the end of the 3rd Grading Period)
- Only current CFISD 8th grade students may apply. (Students must attend a CFISD school in 8th grade during the Spring to apply)
- The applicant must meet the requirements for promotion to 9th grade, have Algebra I (or Geometry) credit with a yearly average of 80+ and have completed K-level/HORIZONS 8th grade English language arts with a yearly average of 80+. (CBE Credit Not accepted)
- Meets or Masters on BOTH the Algebra I EOC and English STAAR have been removed, however these scores have been an indicator of future success in the program.
- The applicant must have completed ALL portions of the application for admission.

Additional Graduation Information
Lone Star College Cy-Fair Graduation Ceremony
- Students may wear their high school cap and gown and stole to the Lone Star College Cy-Fair graduation.
High School Graduation Ceremony
- Students will wear their high school cap and gown and stole to their High School graduation.
- High school cords and regalia may be worn at the high school ceremony.
- If a student participated in any college programs and has earned a college cord or other stole, they may not wear it to the high school graduation.
Graduation Orientation
- College graduation candidates will receive an email from Lone Star College in early April 2024 to sign up for an online orientation.
- The orientation will take place mid to late April. The orientation will provide general graduation information to students as well as informing them of the ticket options for family for the college ceremony in May.
