Digital Resources
-
The CFISD Digital Library Resources offer the convenience of 24-7 online library access along with the assurance that the materials are selected as carefully as the print resources available in our school libraries. Each of these resources contain reliable, current, and relevant information as well as color, sound, and animation features that make digital information a powerful learning tool. These resources are available to students and staff members from school or home giving them 24-hour access to information.

Selection
Digital Library Resources are selected based on a variety of factors:
-
Curriculum support and connections for a variety of areas
-
Accuracy and relevance to curriculum and student life
-
Ease of use and accessibility for students
-
Advanced search abilities
-
Reading levels of materials
-
Graphic design and interactivity
-
Provision of adaptability for special needs learners (ex: audio text availability, automatic "play", text enlargement)
-
Type of information offered (reference, encyclopedic, periodical (newspaper/magazine), literacy format)
-
Citation availability
-
Cost
Most informational resources are selected with the intent to supplement curriculum and library print materials to meet the needs of 21st Century Learners, while providing an online research option for teachers without the necessity of using broad, random internet searching. In addition, our secondary schools have begun establishing virtual reference library collections with the transition of time-honored reference print materials to eBooks.

Additional Resources
The CFISD libraries also provide links to to a variety of helpful Internet sites on each library home page. Depending on the level, users can access additional career and college information, local and national news sources, teacher support links, online tutoring sites, interactive museums, and of course, our local public libraries!

Access
From CFISD, users can access the Library Resources by logging in to http://my.cfisd.net and locating the folder. Each campus library connects to the digital resources and may offer additional connections to campus-specific tools and websites.
From Home, users can also access the Library Resources by logging in to http://my.cfisd.net and locating the folder. At this time, because our online resources are IP authenticated, students will need to have the school username and password. Passwords and access information are available at each campus library. Our Summer 2021 goal is to have all of our resources authenticate with SSO through my.cfisd.
