April 22, 2024—Representatives from Texas Tutor Team and Burke’s Transformation Academy visited the staff at Salyards Middle School on April 15 to officially announce their Adopt-a-School partnerships with the campus.

CFISD’s Adopt-a-School program pairs schools with community organizations and business partners to utilize resources of the community to strengthen and enrich the quality of education for students.

Mike Fossen, Texas Tutor Team director, shared his goal of supporting teachers through the partnership.

“The Texas Tutor Team wants to thank the teachers at Salyards for the hard work they do to educate our children,” Fossen said. “We appreciate their efforts and want to support them going forward by adopting the teachers at Salyards.”

Pennie Burke, Burke’s Transformation Academy director, shared adopting the campus will benefit students.

“Burke’s Transformation Academy is excited to welcome Salyards Middle School into our family,” Burke said. “Our shared goal of supporting students with dyslexia aligns perfectly and together we’ll empower these students to reach their full potential. This partnership represents a commitment to inclusive education and a brighter future for all learners who struggle with spelling and reading. We’re honored to embark on this journey together.”

Liz Wood, Salyards principal, expressed her gratitude towards both Texas Tutor Team and Burke’s Transformation Academy for committing to help support the campus.

“We are thrilled to be adopted by Texas Tutor Team and Burke’s Transformation Academy,” Wood said. “Our stuff and students work hard each and every day and I am so excited these business partners want to bless them in different ways!”
