Percussion ensembles advance to state competition

Drumline captains from Cypress Ranch, Cy-Fair and Bridgeland high schools join Luke Scanlon, CFISD Board member, at the Percussion Area competition on April 6 at Cypress Ranch. The three percussion ensembles will join Cypress Park and Cypress Springs in competing at the TCGC state championships on April 13 in Katy.

April 9, 2024—Indoor percussion ensembles from five CFISD high schools will compete in the Texas Color Guard Circuit (TCGC) Percussion & Winds State Championships, set for April 13 at the Merrell Center in Katy.

Four groups competed at the Percussion Area competition, held April 6 at Cypress Ranch High School:

  • Bridgeland High School placed second in the Scholastic Marching World class;
  • Cy-Fair High School placed third in Scholastic Marching World;
  • Cypress Ranch placed second in the Scholastic Marching Open class; and
  • Cypress Springs High School placed seventh in the Scholastic Marching A Red class, and 12th overall in Scholastic Marching A.

Cypress Park High School will join the four percussion ensembles at the state championships on April 13. Performance and ticket information are listed on the TCGC website.
