Lightspeed audio technology helping enhance learning environment
May 3, 2018—The $1.2 billion Bond package passed in 2014 saw upgrades in all corners of CFISD. That includes inside every classroom, as the Bond-funded Lightspeed sound enhancement technology will be in every class across the district’s 91 campuses by the end of 2018.

Major renovations transform Watkins MS on its 35th anniversary
May 24, 2018—Opening as CFISD’s fifth middle school in 1983, Watkins Middle School was among the campuses to open the 2017-2018 school year with new upgrades, features and sense of pride among its students, staff and community.

Matzke ES brings traditions and latest technology to brand new campus
May 10, 2018— The replacement campus of Matzke Elementary School, opened in August 2017 on Mills Road, and was funded by the 2014 Bond package. The $26.744 million project was designed by PBK and built by Purcell Construction, Inc., and sits near Cypress Creek High School.

Emergency call stations add extra safety layer to secondary schools
April 26, 2018—Among the more visible upgrades are the emergency call boxes. Each secondary campus (middle schools and high schools) has two of the tall blue towers, which feature a call button and speaker and dial directly to CFISD police dispatchers.

Francone ES renovations renews pride school community
April 19, 2018—Thanks in large part to voter-approved Bond packages – the most recent passing in 2014 – CFISD has been able to help take care of existing facilities, one being Francone Elementary School (11250 Perry Road). The 40-year-old campus received major renovations and additions completed in time for the 2017-2018 school year.

Acoustical shells offer better sound CFISD performing ensembles
March 29, 2018—Valued at $470,496, the 208 Wenger Legacy Classic acoustical shell units funded by the Bond were first delivered in October 2017, with the final units arriving just before the holiday break in December 2017.

Improved High Speed Wireless Infrastructure Catches Growth
March 22, 2018—Thanks to a $1.2 billion Bond voted for in 2014, CFISD is improving its high-speed wireless access and infrastructure, including increased coverage not only inside the campuses and other facilities, but outdoors as well. In achieving this goal and keeping CFISD ahead of the curve with technology, $90 million were dedicated to upgrades. That included $10 million for a high-speed wireless infrastructure.

Bridgeland HS and Wells ES use unique design to further learning
March 1, 2018—Bridgeland High School’s 4-story academic tower is just one of the unique features in CFISD’s 12th comprehensive high school, which opened as part of a 120-acre multi-campus village that includes Wells Elementary School and a future middle school.

Secured vestibules added to existing CFISD campuses
Feb. 21, 2018—Adding an additional layer of security, the vestibules provide a secured space at the front of a given campus. Normally with two or three sets of doors (one leads to the front office), the vestibule keeps visitors from accessing the entire school unless first going through the reception sign-in area.

Feb. 15, 2018—Bane Elementary School saw major renovations and additions completed for the 2017-2018 school year thanks to a $1.2 billion Bond voted for in 2014. Among the renovation projects included a new gym, administration area, classrooms and kitchen area to the school.

Promethean actipanels bring collaborative learning to classroom

Bullet resistant glass are part of campus security upgrades
Feb. 1, 2018—To keep campuses and school facilities safe and secure, CFISD has installed bullet-resistant glass at the main entry windows of the campuses. A major component of the 2014 Bond program was safety and security upgrades, of which $4.2 million was allocated for the high-tech glass. The upgrades also included secured front entrances with buzzer door releases, security vestibules, and added security cameras, card reader access points and “lockdown” panic buttons.
