June 13, 2023—Cypress Springs High School senior Denysse Maldonado earned first place in her division at the Performing Arts Houston Student Art Contest.

The 2023 contest marked the 25th year Performing Arts Houston hosted the Student Art Contest and featured more than 650 student submissions from across the greater Houston area. This year’s contest theme, Limitless, encouraged students to explore their surroundings and reflect on their passions, while also thinking about how the world is vast and learning is endless.

Maldonado’s piece titled “Growing Pains” not only earned a first-place division finish, but Maldonado was awarded a $750 scholarship for her work.

In addition, Arnold Middle School eighth grade student Trinity Nguyen and Cy-Fair High School senior Gora Bepary both earned Honorable Mention awards in their respective divisions for their artwork titled “Broken Melodies, Endless Harmony” and “Balance,” respectively.

Winning artwork will be on display at four Harris County Public Library branches starting in June, including Lone Star College—Tomball Community Library and Spring Branch Memorial Library.
